About Us

The Office of Civil Rights and Investigations (OCRI) is responsible for upholding institutional standards related to fairness, respectful treatment, and compliance with civil rights laws and workplace policies.

We conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into concerns involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other forms of misconduct that may impact the learning and working environment. Our office serves as a trusted resource for academic and non-academic faculty, staff, and students,  seeking guidance or resolution in matters that affect their experience at the institution.

The OCRI works in close partnership with our colleagues in Human Resources, the Office of Professionalism, and the Office of General Counsel to develop, coordinate, and implement institutional initiatives that promote fairness, mutual respect, trust, and excellence at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) by:

  • Creating a consistent framework for conducting investigations of faculty, staff, student, trainee, and patient reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation at WCM, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, § 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and others.
  • Implementing a consistent framework for conducting investigations into potential violations of WCM Human Resources policies.
  • Developing and delivering training programs, consultations, and other learning opportunities to combat bias and harassment in the WCM community.
